Accept Gift Direct Staff to Prepare Formal Acknowledgement to Green Gators Swim Team Parents Committee FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: The Green Gators Swim Team is a City sponsored program that competes in the Tri-Valley Swim League. The team is comprised of 135 swimmers ranging in ages from 4 to 18 years of age. Home meets and practices for the team are held at the Dublin Swim Center. The Green Gators Swim Team Parents Committee is comprised of parents who have taken an active volunteer role to assist the program by scheduling parent volunteers during meets and social functions, coordinating incentive programs for individual swimming improvements, providing partial scholarships to attend competitive stroke classes offered through the City, coordinating team suit and apparel orders, team. photos and fundraising. The fundraising done by the Parents Committee comes from multiple activities such as a Swim-a-Thon conducted at the Dublin Swim Center, restaurant sponsorships from Rigatonis and Sweet Tomatoes, and snack bar receipts from home meets, the City's Water Carnival and the league championship. The Parents Committee's annual goal is to raise $5000 to benefit the program in the best way possible. Input is received from the team coaches at the completiOn of each season and the Committee then annually determines what purchases to make. The Parents Committee identified that a BestBet timing system would greatly benefit the program. The timing component consists of a dual plunger type stopwatch system for six lanes of racing. A single line scrolling scoreboard is able to list race results. The advantages of the BestBet system are that it generates more accurate timing at the swim meets, quicker report printing for seeding of swimmers and ribbon writing, and the scoreboard provides a visual reference for all swimmers and parents to immediately recognize results. The timing system also is equivalent to the system used for the league championship meet providing swimmers and staff familiarity with that format.
