headlines, statistics and stereotypes about the State and its people. California Stories is a multiyear
initiative designed to strengthen communities and connect Californians by uncovering personal and

program coincides with the publication of a book Ca1ifiJrnia Uncovered: Stories jÓr the 21st Century.
The book is edited by Chitra Divakanmi and features essays and memoirs from well known California
writers such as John Steinheek, Maxine Hong Kingston, Gary Soto and Khaled Hosseini, among others.

opportunities for all of the City's diverse population to share a common literary experience hy
reading selected essays from the book, participating in a hook discussion group at the Library and
attending programs at the Library centered on this theme. In addition, the Duhlin Library and the Dublin
Heritage Center are working together to offer residents an opportunity to share their stories, cultural
heritage, and thoughts on Dublin which will be compiled to create Dublin's own anthology and "snap
