None. DESCRIPTION: On July 17, 2007, the City Council adopted the Bikeways Master Plan. One of the elements of the Plan states that, "Bicycle promotional and educational events, such as Bike to Work Day...should be planned and managed by the responsible departments. The City should coordinate public outreach and involvement with adjacent cities." As part of this year's Bike to Work Day events, a Team Bike Challenge was hosted by the East Bay Bicycle Coalition during the month of May. Teams of two to five bicyclists attempted to replace as many car trips with bike trips as possible. Bicyclists earned team points for every day a bike was used instead of a motor vehicle to make one or more trips. Throughout the Bay Area, participating teams logged an incredible 225,349 miles traveled by bicycle and saved over 218,500 pounds of toxic emissions from being released into the atmosphere. Four teams represented the City of Dublin in the Team Bike Challenge: Rec Riders, PWP2, FredEx, and the Brake Fast Club. The Rec Riders were the winning team for Alameda County with a total of 650 miles in bike trips. In recognition of this accomplishment, the East Bay Bicycle Coalition would like to present each member of the Rec Riders with certificates and Timbuk2 bike messenger bags. The Rec Riders team is comprised of the following Staff from the City's Parks and Community Services Department: Henry Siu, Rhonda Franklin, Angela Gamez, Herma Lichtenstein, and Anna Hudson. The City Council would like to join with the East Bay Bicycle Coalition in recognizing the accomplishment of the City of Dublin's "Rec Riders" in the Team Bike Challenge.
