On October 16, 2001, the City Council determined that the Task Force would be appointed for a one-year period and that an advertisement should be placed in the newspaper advertising the application period. The application period was from November 2, 2001 to November 16, 2001. The City received 13 applications from the public for the Task Force and one application from the Chamber of Commerce. The City Council determined that the Task Force should include a diverse range of interests, including a member of the City Council, Planning Commission and Chamber of Commerce. The Mayor is recommending that the appointments to the Task Force not duplicate either particular business interests or community interest groups. Bevilacqua Why I would like to serve: I would like to be a member of the Housing Task Force because I believe I would provide a unique combination of experience, skills and local concern to the issues at hand. I have over 15 years of experience in the construction industry and have a B.S. Degree in Construction Management. My experience has been in both commercial/industrial as well as residential development and construction. I have been part of several major projects in the Valley; Pleasanton Middle School, Nordstrom's at Stoneridge Mall, housing in Emerald Park and the Dublin Civic Center. Currently, a developer of affordable housing employs me as the Director of Purchasing. We currently have projects in Pittsburgh, Pleasant Hill, Hayward (5 in total), Richmond and Watsonville. We have over 30 current working relationships with cities and redevelopment agencies throughout the State of California and specialize in assisting cities solve their affordable housing needs. Lastly, as a current resident of the City of Dublin and as a life-long resident of the Valley, I have been witness to the evolution of our once quiet, rural and affordable region. As a boy I witnessed the construction of Interstate 680, replacing the old Highway 21, as the major thoroughfare to the North and South just as 1-580 had replaced Highway 50 earlier. Although these roads are not to blame for the current lack of affordability we face, they were the catalyst for the dramatic development that occurred. While these roads will never be undone, it is imperative that as we look forward towards providing affordable housing opportunities, our leaders must understand and take into consideration all factors that influence the success of these opportunities. Affordability is not just a local issue; it is a regional one and as such will only be fixed by understanding and taking into consideration our regional demands, opportunities and limitations and by possessing a broad vision. /5- Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering my application. ;?-16-2001 16:55 From-LEGACY PARTNERS +6503?81644 %880 P.002/003 F-814 CITY..
