CITY OF DUBLIN
CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, Alejandra Dean, Nicole Rumore, Sara Savarani, and Christy Tadros, four 5th
grade students~from Quarry Lane School in Dublin, california, who, combining their efforts
and applying their brain power, took 1st place in the grade 4-6 category m the largest
international science competition throughout the U.S. and .Canada; and
WHEREAS, the Quarry Lane School'team spent five months brainstorming, researching and
writin their winning ~oro~oosat for their idea cat[ed the "Nano Snippit-Bot", a reuotutionizing
brain tumor remova[demce, and entered the 10t Annual Explora~/£s~on International Science
Compefftion sponsored by Toshiba and administered by the NaffonaI Science Teachers
ASsociation; a~d
WHEREAS, after being selected one of the 24 Regional Winners in Alameda County,
Alejandra, Christy, Nicole and Sara went the extra mile and applied their creatiuity to deuelop
a website which explains theirpropoSal earning the team lstptace; and
WHEREAS, to celebrate their win, each student on the team and team coach, Liz Paz-Rumore,
will go to Washington, D.C. for the 10th Anniuersary ExploraVision Awards Weekend in June
2002.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that I, Janet Lockhart, Mayor of Dublin, on behalf of
the entire City Council, do hereby give special recognition to Christy Tadro.s, Sara Savaran~,
Nicole Rumore, and Alejandra Dean for their exceptional achievement and encourage more
students to discouer the thrill and excitement of Science. ·
