CITY OF DUBLIN
CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, the Dublin High School Band & Colorguard and the Dublin High Band Boosters Club worked diligently for the
past four years to raise funds to represent Dublin, California in the St. Patrick's Day Festival 2000 in Dublin, Ireland; and
WHEREAS, the Dublin High School Band Boosters raised funds for the trip and to purchase new Band uniforms by operating
a concession stand at all the home games of the San Francisco 49ers, and working at various Dublin festivities including the
St. Patrick's Day Festival, the Dublin Pasta Festival, Santa's Breakfast, the Water Carnival, and Fourth of July and
Millennium Fireworks Sales; and
WHEREAS, during their week of travel, the Dublin High Band & Colorguard marched in Dublin, Ireland's St. Patrick's
Day parade; marched in our Sister City Bray's holiday parade, where they received awards for the Best Overseas Band and the
Best Marching Band; the Winterguard participated in the Limerick International Dance and Drill Competition; and the
Band and Colorguard marched in the Limerick International Band Festival, where they won the First Place Award for Small
Overseas Band; and
WHEREAS, Band Director Lee Carpenter has demonstrated excellent skill and leadership ability by guiding the Dublin High
Band & Colorguard to realize their 4-year dream of participating in Dublin, Ireland's St. Patrick's Day Festival 2000; and
WHEREAS, such a skillful and enthusiastiC demonstration of Community pride should not go unrecognized by the City of
Dublin. '
NO W, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL VED that the Dublin City Council does hereby recognize and congratulate the Dublin
High School Band & Colorguard, as well as the Dublin High Band Boosters Club, for their successes and wish them the best of
luck in their future musical endeavors.
