P Recognize Foundation for the contributions and formally accept the gift~_ FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The Foundation is making a contribution of$II,067 as well as an in~ kind donation of a new 50-inch television valued at $3,925. DESCRIPTION: Thc Dublin Scnior Foundation is a non-profit (Jrganization that was (ormed in 1997. The purpose of the Foundation is to provide programs to promotc the growth and development of the Dublin Senior Center; to provide seniors with the opportunity to participate in community services; to provide developmental tìmds tor Senior Center events; and, to support programs that meet the unmet needs of area seniors. The means by which the Foundation raises funds includes sponsoring fundraising events, securing grants, providing workcrs [or community events, operating a fireworks booth, and receiving private donations and memorial gifts. Over the years the Foundation has generously supported the events and programs at the Senior Center, often providing funds to purchase equipment, augment events and reduce fees for seniors. For the new Senior Center the Foundation has alrcady been busy raising funds for new equipment. The Foundation is contributing the following to the City: Wood Podium (cash) Digital Piano (cash) 50" High Definition Television (in-kind) $913 $2,654 $3,925 In addition the Foundation is making an additional $7,500 contribution to help offset the cost ofreduced ticket prices for seniors [or the Grand Opening Gala that was held on August 4, 2005. Due to the generosity of the Foundation, over 200 seniors were able attend this special event at a reduced price. G:\COUNCJL\Agem.li.l Sliltemt:nts\2005\LO-18 Senior Foundation Recognition.doc The Dublin Senior Center Foundation has pledged their ongoing financial support to the City as programs and services at the new Senior Ccnter expand. To accomplish this, the Foundation has established two donor walls outside thc Main Hall at the Senior Ccnter [or patrons to purchase engravcd tiles. Donations for the tiles are expected to generatc over $100,000 for the Foundation. In recognition of their contribution, the Foundation will be recognized at thc Council meeting. Pcr Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gilìs and contributions be formally accepted by the City Council. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends the Council recognize the Foundation for the contributions and formally accept the gifts. Page 2 of2
