DESCRIPTION: The Anthony and Angela Bilich Family and Preferred Financial have donated $1,000.00 to Dublin Police Services to be used in the "Kids in Action" program. Dublin Police Services has served the students attending our public and private schools since 1982 and continues to provide outreach programs to all youth living in the City of Dublin. The donation will provide funds to accomplish the goals ofthe Kids in Action program for the youth of Dublin. The City Council has routinely supported efforts to identify at risk youth and provide resources to direct them and prepare them for their future goals. The Dublin Police Services, Crime Prevention Officer is the lead coordinator ofthis program. Dublin youth are organized to participate in learning environments, such as a recent conference on constitutional rights or learning about the creek waterways in Dublin. Recently the Dublin youth safely removed litter from the Iron Horse Trail. During that community service event the youth were informed about how refuse negatively impacts the wildlife in our waterways. Because of the Dublin youth involvement in this program, Dublin is a better place to live. This program uses recreation activities to reinforce the positive commitment of service to the community. This in turn builds self esteem in those individuals that participate in this program. The planned activities are intended to promote trust between the youth and police officers, providing character building for at risk youth, and fostering cooperation with all members of the community. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- COPY TO: Page 1 of2 lTEMNO.~ C:\Documents and Settings\gam4983\Desktop\Safety Day\agenda Bilich 2007.doc The expenditure direction recommended by the Bilich Family/ Preferred Financial for youth education is consistent with the City's current objectives and past practices.
