DESCRIPTION: Individual members ofthe City Council represent the City of Dublin
on various local and regional boards/committees/commissions. As a result of the November elections,
several openings have occurred on these bodies. One ofthese vacancies has occurred on the Dublin Pride
Week Committee. Traditionally, Dublin Pride Week has had two Councilmembers appointed to its
committee. Previously, Vice Mayor Kasie Hildenbrand and Councilmember Claudia McCormick served
as Council's representatives. Currently, Vice Mayor Hildenbrand has participated in the Pride Week
Committee's first meeting for Pride Week activities occurring in 2007. The first meeting occurred
December 13,2006.
At the current time, Pride Week Committee Meetings are tentatively scheduled to occur once a month on
a Wednesday, and each meeting starts at about 1 :30 in the afternoon. Generally, this meeting schedule
continues through the month of February. As Pride Week approaches, more frequent meetings become
necessary. As a result, the Pride Week Committee will meet on a bi-weekly basis beginning in March and
continue in such a manner until Pride Week activities begin.
By way of general overview, Dublin Pride Week is an annual event that seeks to promote a positive image
for the City of Dublin. The primary objective for Dublin Pride Week is to seek ways to engage individuals
and/or groups in action based activities to help improve the community. The Pride Week Committee is at
the forefront of this effort. Additionally, Councilmember participation is a key component of this
committee and the ultimate success of Pride Week activities. As such, the appointment oftwo
Councilmembers to this committee is being deliberated for the limited term beginning December 2006
and ending December 2007.
