~~,
DESCRIPTION: Every year in the United States, nearly 13,000 people are killed by drunk drivers
with an illegal blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of .08 or above and countless others are injured. This
represents more than 1,000 families every month that must live with the tragic consequences of drunk
driving. In a bold new effort designed to eradicate one of the nation's deadliest crimes, Mothers Against
Drunk Driving (MADD) has launched its national Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, which aims to
literally wipe out drunk driving in the United States.
On December 2, 2008, MADD held their annual Law Enforcement Recognition Luncheon in Oakland,
honoring those officers in Alameda County for taking steps to eliminate drunk driving. MADD is
honored to show their appreciation to law enforcement for their lifesaving efforts to arrest drunk drivers.
MADD continues to partner with law enforcement in Alameda County to remind the public to always
drive sober.
Officers from Dublin Police Services who received the 2008 MADD Law Enforcement Recognition
Award were: Officers Eric Chaloner, John Belfer, Sean Parker, Mitchell Mensinger, Tim Phillips, and
Alan Dumatol.
