DESCRIPTION: The Murray Schoolhouse bell tower reconstruction has been
spearheaded by the efforts of three community-based organizations. Early on, the Dublin Rotary Club in
partnership with the Dublin Historical Preservation Association (DHPA) proposed a project whereby they
would provide matching funds to the City for the project. Through the diligent fired raising efforts of
both entities and the generous contributions of many organizations and individuals they have reached their
goal of $25,000. With the project currently under construction, representatives from the Rotary Club and
Dublin Historical Preservation Association will be presenting a check to the City of Dublin in the amount
of $25,000.
Included as a primary participant in the project, the General Federation of Women's Club (GFWC)
Dublin-San Ramon Chapter has committed to purchasing the bell. A representative from the GFWC
Dublin-San Ramon Chapter will be presenting a check to the City of Dublin in the amount of $4,150.
Per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally
accepted by the City Council. Therefore it is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council accept
the gift and dire,ct Staff to prepare a formal acknowledgment to Dublin Rotary Club, Dublin Historical
Preservation Association and the General Federation of Women's Club's Dublin-San Ramon Chapter.
