DESCRIPTION: On July 18,2000 the City Council accepted the Emerald Glen Park Phase I Projcct. The Phase I improvements included a baseball diamond now known as Field B. In October 2003 the City received correspondence from the Dublin Little League in regards to a persistent problem with foul balls leaving the Held area and entering the adjacent tennis courts. In response, the City coordinated with its risk management association, the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG), and consultant MIG to evaluate the current field layout. MIG prepared a report that indicated industry design and planning resource documents do not identifY specific standards for baseball field layouts with respect to fence setbacks, fence hcights and backstop sizes. The report recommended thc following modifications: I) Move thc backstop and baseline fence ten feet closer to the field; 2) Raise the fence height along the first baseline to 20'; and 3) Install a hooded typc of backstop. The estimated costs for these modilìcations were includcd in the budget for the Emerald Glen Park Phase III project that is scheduled to bcgin construction during Spring 2005. In the interest of completing this portion of the project prior to the 2005 little league season Staff solicited bids for the backstop improvements in early January 2005.
