FINANCIAL STATEMENT: BUDGET FOR THIS PROJECT ITEM OF WORK BUDGET AMOUNT Salaries / Miscellaneous $ 10,500 Pavement Repair of Slurry Seal Streets $ 30,000 * Slurry Seal Streets (including striping) $ 80,000 TOTAL: $120,500 * NOTE: Pavement repair of streets to be slurry sealed is being performed with the Annual Overlay project. This Capital Improvement project is being funded by Gas Tax monies (Fund 206). DESCRIPTION: Slurry seal is a preventive maintenance technique used to prolong the life of asphalt surfacing. Slurry consists of a sand/oil mixture which seals cracks and provides a new uniform wearing surface. City streets are slurried approximately every five to seven years, depending upon the level of wear. Failed pavement repairs, which are required prior to the placement of slurry seal, are being performed as part of the Annual Overlay contract. Staff recommends that the City Council authorize Staff to advertise for bids for the Annual Slurry Seal Program, Contract No. 02-05.
