SUBJECT: Award of Bid for Dublin Public Library Data, Voice and Television
Cabling Project '

RECOMMENDATION: 1) Adopt resolution awarding bid to Data-Com Cable, Inc.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Twenty-two bids were received ranging from the low bid of $16,285
to $44,930. The budget includes $57,000 for Data, Voice and
~ Television Cabling Project.
DESCRIPTION: At the meeting of May 7, 2002 the City Council authorized Staff to
solicit bids to install data, voice and television cabling as part of the Dublin Public Library Project.
The scope of work addresses program needs for library staff and public use as well as, the capacity for
future needs. The project includes the following key elements:
1) Data/Voice cabling and outlets at 85 locations throughout the building
2) The capacity to provide 244 data and 84 telephone connections
3) Television cable connections in five locations
The cabling contractor will work closely with N.V. Heathom, the general contractor for the Dublin Public
Library Project, to install the cabling in the most efficient manner.
BID RESULTS:
A total of twenty-two (22) bids were received and the lowest responsible bidder for this project is Data-
Com Cable, Inc. at $16,285. A complete list of bidder's is included as Attachment #2.
CONCLUSION:
Staff has reviewed the bid results, checked with references, and recommends that the City Council adopt
the resolution in Attachment 1 awarding the bid to Data-Com Cable, Inc.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING A CONTRACT TO DATA-COM CABLE, INC. TO INSTALL DATA, VOICE AND
TELEVISION CABLING FOR THE DUBLIN PUBLIC LIBRARY
WHEREAS, the 2001-2002 Capital Improvement program includes funding for the Dublin Public
Library Project; and
WHEREAS, the City sent out a Request for Proposals to thirty construction firms and received
twenty-two bids in response; and
WHEREAS, Data-Com Cable, Inc., prepared the lowest bid estimate and was determined to be
qualified to do the work; and ~
f NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT REsoLVED that the City Council hereby approves the contract with
Data-Com Cable, Inc., for installation of data, voice and television cabling for the Dublin Public Library.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED, this 18th day of June, 2002.
