FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Seven bids were received with a low bid from FERMA Corporation
with a total base bid of $348,750.

DESCRIPTION: A Fiscal Year 2007-2008 high priority City Council objective is to
undertake development of design and construction documents for Phase 1 of the Dublin Historic Park. In
order for this work to move forward the demolition of the existing Dublin Square Shopping Center is
necessary.
On May 30, 2008, Staff began soliciting public bids for the demolition project. A total of seven bids were
received by the June 18, 2008, bid opening. The low bid of $348,750 was submitted by FERMA
Corporation. Staff has conducted background check and spoken with references and recommends
awarding the contract to FERMA. Staff recommends adding a lO% contingency bringing the amount
needed to $383,625. With $600,000 included in the project budget for demolition, sufficient funds are
available to award the contract.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution
awarding Contract 08-07 to FERMA Corporation.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN

AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 08-07
DUBLIN SQUARE SHOPPING CENTER DEMOLITION
TO
FERMA CORPORATION
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on June 18,2008, publicly open, examine and declare all
sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans and Specifications for Contract No. 08-07,
which Plans and Specifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all
particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has reviewed the bids to
determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid documents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does
hereby award Contract No. 08-07 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, FERMA,
CORPORATION, at a base bid of Three hundred forty eight thousand seven hundred and fifty dollars
($348,750) the particulars of which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer.
