The Sidewalk Safety Repair improvements are budgeted in the General Fund (001).
Curb ramps are funded through a Community Development Block Grant (209).
DESCRIPTION: On December 18, 2001, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for
Contract No. 01-17, 2001-2002 Sidewalk Safety Repair Program and Curb Ramp Installations.
The Annual Sidewalk Safety Repair Program repairs sidewalk locations that are Offset 3/4" or more and
may pose a tripping hazard. This contract specifies removal and replacement of existing sidewalk, curb
and gutter. This year's project also includes the construction of 9 pedestrian curb ramps at various street
comers.
A total of 7 bids were received for the project (Attachment 2). Low bidder was AJW Construction, with a
bid of $45,557.50.
Staff has reviewed the bid results, checked with references, and verified that the bidder's bond is licensed
and solvent by the State Department of Insurance. The performance and payment bonds will be verified
prior to issuing the Notice to Proceed.
Staff recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 01-17 to AJW
Construction.

OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 01-17,
2001-2002 SIDEWALK SAFETY REPAIR PROGRAM AND
CURB RAMP INSTALLATIONSTO AJW CONSTRUCTION
WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did on February 7, 2002, publicly open, examine, and declare all
sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for
Contract No. 01-17, 2001-2002 Sidewalk Safety RePair Program and Curb Ramp Installations authorized
by the City Council on December 18, 2001, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby
expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under
the request for bids; and
WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has reviewed the bids to
determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid docUments.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby
award Contract No. 01-17 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, AJW Construction, at a bid of
Forty-Five Thousand, Five Hundred Fifty-Seven Dollars and Fifty Cents ($45,557.50), the particulars of
which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer.
