Field Trip to View Freeway/Transportation Public Art Projects

RECOMMENDATION: thorize the Field Trip
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Estimated Cost: $1,200.
Sufficient funds are available in the budget.
DESCRIPTION: At the May 2, 2000 meeting of the Dublin City Council, the Council
gave conceptual approval to the Freeway Underpass Art Project as proposed by the Heritage and Cultural
Arts Commission. However, before proceeding further with the project, the Council concurred to wait
until Councilmember Lockhart returned from a Tucson, Arizona field trip with LAVTA to view public
artwork in bus shelters. It has since been recommended that Councilmember McCormick as well as
Recreation Supervisor Bonnie Leonard and Art Consultant Lynne Baer accompany Councilmember
Lockhart to Tucson to view a variety of freeway/transportation related public art projects in the City. The
estimated cost is $1,200 and sufficient funds are available in the City Council Travel, Conferences and
Meetings Budget:
Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the field trip.
