SUBJECT: Request from Dublin Partners in Education
for Student Art Reimbursement

RECOMMENDATION~C~/It is staff's recommendation that the City Council approve the
budget change form, in the amount of $300, to reimburse Dublin
Partners in Education for the student art work.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: This item will require a transfer of $300 from the unappropriated
General Fund to Account Number 001 - 10100.731.000 (Community
Promotion) to reimburse Dublin Partners in Education.
DESCRIPTION: On a recent trip to Ireland to support Dublin's Sister City programs,
Vice Mayor Lockhart presented a piece of student art as an exchange gift to the City of Bray, Ireland.
On May 29, 2001, the City of Dublin received a letter from the Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE)
requesting that the City consider a $300 contribution for the student art exchange gift. The letter indicated
that the art work was to be part of DPIE's annual Student Art Auction, and DPIE estimated that the art
work would have sold for $300. DPIE is requesting the $300 contribution, with the proceeds being placed
in the Teacher Grant Program for the next school year.
RECOMMENDATION: It is staff's recommendation that the City Council approve the
proposed budget change form, in the amount of $300, to pay Dublin Partners in Education (DPIE) for the
student art work.

Mr. Richard Ambrose:
DPIE is very pleased that Vice Mayor ,Tanet Lockhart took one of our students' art to Dublin
with her as an exchange gift from our City to theirs. I understand that ,Tanet was given
student art materials for our City, which is to be shared at various school sites.
I am writing this letter to request $300 contribution for the student art that ,Tanet took
to Ireland. The art that ,Tanet took to Ireland was to be part of our annual Student Art
Auction, which was May 4, 2001, we believed that this particular piece would of at least
gone for $300. This $300 contribution will go directly to our Teacher Grant Program for
next year.
