DESCRIPTION: Funds were included in the Capital Improvement Program to replace
the Dublin Pride and summer seasonal banners during Fiscal Year 2006-2007.
DUBLIN PRIDE WEEK OPTIONS
For Dublin Pride Week, three conceptual designs have been created to mark the occasion of this annual
event. These designs are displayed in Attachment 1. All three designs incorporate the shamrock as a
symbol of Dublin. Each banner design shows the Dublin logo; however, when the banners are displayed
on the City's streets, each banner will alternate displaying the Dublin logo on one banner with the logo of
the Chamber of Commerce on the next. Finally, each banner will include the phrase "Our City, Our
Home" to denote the significance of Pride Week activities to Dublin residents.
The Chamber of Commerce is a key partner in purchasing the new Pride Week banners and has agreed to
reimburse 50% of the cost over a two year period. The City will be purchasing 54 banners at an estimated
cost of approximately $6,000. Therefore the Chamber will be helping the City offset the cost of the
banners by approximately $3,000. The leadership of the Chamber of Commerce has indicated that it
prefers Option A for the Pride Week banner. It has ranked Option C as the least preferred because the
Chamber feels that its logo, which is all green, would get lost within the many shamrocks incorporated
into the design. Additionally, Option B was less popular than Option A as the Chamber felt that the
nighttime theme may not best represent the feeling of Dublin Pride Week.

SUMMER SEASONAL BANNER OPTIONS
Attachment 2 shows two options that have been prepared for a new set of banners for the summer. In the
past the City has hung the "Dublin Salutes America" banners from Memorial Day to Labor Day. The City
will continue to hang these banners from Memorial Day through July 4th. These new summer banners
would hang from July 4th through Labor Day.
The banners are abstract, bright and colorful, and each says "Welcome to Dublin". Option A has an
orange background with ribbons of color festively swirling from the bottom to the top of the banner.
Option B has an orange, yellow and tan abstract background with the message "Summer Fun in Dublin".
Option B also incorporates the City logo.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council take the following action:
1. Select the preferred Dublin Pride Week banner
2. Select the preferred Summer Seasonal banner
