DESCRIPTION: In spring of 1999 the schematic design for the five acre
neighborhood park in the Dublin Ranch Phase I development was approved by both the Parks &
Community Services Commission and City Council. The park is being built by Shea Homes, the master
developer for Dublin Ranch Phase I. Upon completion, the park will be dedicated to the City.
The park is bordered by Oak Bluff Lane on the north, Noah Dublin Ranch Drive on the west, Antone Way
on the south and a future elementary school on the east. An intermittent stream corridor runs along the
west and noah edges of the park. Features of the park include a children's play area, baseball field, soccer
field, and basketball and sand volleyball courts. A DSRSD pump' station/restroom building is also located
in the park.
To date, the park has been referred to as Dublin Ranch Neighborhood Park as the City Council has not
taken official action to name the park. As has been done with other new parks in the City, the Parks &
Community Services Commission was requested to select up to three names for the park for consideration
by the City Council. The guidelines used by the Commission to determine the suggested park names are
shown below.
1. Geographic Location
a. Major Street
b. Water Bodies
c. Hills/Ridgelines
d. Subdivision Names
2. Landscaping
a. Indigenous Trees or Plantings
b. Topography
3. Historic Significance

The names recommended by the Commission are as follows:
Antone Park
Antone Ranch Park
Dublin Ranch Park
By way of information, the Antone Family was a large property owner in the eastern Dublin area in the
early 1900's. Mr. Antone offered land for a schoolhouse if the families could collect enough money to
build a schoolhouse. Twelve hundred and eighty dollars was raised and the schoolhouse was built in 1912
on Tassajara Road. The school was named for Antone. The original schoolhouse is still standing, albeit
in poor condition.
It is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council select a park name from the list recommended by
the Parks & Community Services Commission or determine an altemate name.
