Subject: Installation of a Traffic Signal at Amador Valley Blvd /Brighton Drive
Good Evening -
My name is Karen Smith and I reside at 7251 Prince Drive in Dublin. I received a
letter dated October 29th from the City of Dublin advising that City Council will be
discussing/approving the installation of a traffic signal at Amador Valley Blvd. and
Brighton Dr. at the City Council meeting on November 17, 2009. Unfortunately,
am unable to attend. this meeting, but would like to express. my concern over the
City Council approving the addition of a traffic light at this intersection. I am
against erecting a stop light at this intersection for the following reasons:
There is already a 3-way stop seven (7) houses down on Amador Valley
Blvd. from the proposed signal location. Wells Middle School traffic will
become more congested on the west side of Amador Valley Blvd and
Penn Drive than it already is if a light is installed. How will traffic flow
effectively from a 3-way stop and then be controlled by a traffic light right
around the corner/down the street?
I believe that placing a 3-way stop sign at the Amador Valley/Brighton
intersection would be more fiscally sound for the City of Dublin and also
achieve the desired results of controlling the traffic flow along Amador
Valley and Brighton. Then, for every car that went through the 3-way stop
at the Amador Valley/Penn intersection, one car would advance through a
3-way stop at Amador Valley and Brighton.
I do not feel that a traffic light is appropriate for a residential neighborhood
with a speed limit of 25 mph.
I agree that painting the curb red along Brighton would be an effective measure
in allowing traffic to turn right onto Amador Valley Blvd. in a safe manner -but
do not believe that a traffic light is necessary to achieve that.
Your consideration to this would be greatly appreciated prior to your vote.
Thanking you in advance,
Karen Smith
