FESTIVAL ARTWORK
Thc City has a tradition of creating colorful, eye-catching, posters for the SI. Patrick's Day Festival. In the
past the City has commissioned an artist to prepare unique artwork for the event poster. Last year, Staff
created a watercolor drawing from a parade photo. The City has been using the same layout for the poster
for the past five years which features the festival artwork surrounded by a green border listing the event
information.
This year Staff proposes featuring a shamrock on the poster with the leaves featuring pictures representing
more aspects of the weekend celebration. Attachment 1 is a sample of the proposed concept.
Thc Parks and Community Services Commissioners reviewed the proposed artwork in December and
unanimously recommended thc shamrock concept to the City Council. The Commission also
recommended reducing the amount of text on the poster aDd making the text less boxy.
Staff recommends the Council approve the proposed artwork or provide alternate direction.
