Onc of thc clcmcnts that were a part of the 2005-2006 Goals & Objectives and Budget process was a half-day Strategic Planning Workshop. This Workshop served as a follow-up session on the City's ncwly adoptcd Stratcgic Planning document (Adoption took place in June 2004) with outside facilitator that took place on Friday, January 7, 2005. At the Friday, January 7,2005 Strategic Planning Workshop, the City Council reviewed, and proposed some minor modifications that were then subscqucntly adopted in June ZOOS. Based on Council's direction, there have been a variety of outreach efforts that have been used in disseminating tlle Strategic Planning document to the community. Such examples are the prominent placement of the Strategic Planning document on the City's web site, handouts at various City sponsored events, and various City publications such as the City's 2005-2006 Budget document. It may prove to be advantageous to defer having a Strategic Planning Workshop until the early part of 2007, in order for the community to have ample time for review and comment, and also allow the new City Council an opportunity to review the Strategic Plan, and make any desired modifications. Ifit is City Council's desire to move forward in having a Strategic Planning Workshop, Staff is proposing Friday, December 9, 2005. Staff has already made contact with Sherry Lund, the consultant who has facilitated the previous two workshops, and it appears that Friday, Decembcr 9, ZOOS would work on her schedule_ ______________________________________________________-__W_____R~.__________________________*___M__~_________ COpy TO: Page 1 o[Z ITEM NO. -ß.~? J Thcre are two other important dates that City Council will need to supply Staff with direction on. Those two dates are the 2006-2007 City Council and Commissions Workshop on Goals & Objectives and the 2006-2007 City Council Goals & Objective and Budget Study Session. Staff is proposing the following dates: City Council and Commissions Workshop on 2006-2007 Goals & Objectives proposed for Saturday, January 28, 2006. City Council 2006-2007 Goals & Objectives and Budget Study Session proposed for Monday, Mareh 13, 2006.
