FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Currently there is no budget allocation for this request of $1,600. If the Council proceeds with this request, there will be need to allocate funds to the City Council's Community Promotion account from the City's General Fund Unallocated Reserves. DESCRIPTION: At the July 1, 2003 City Council Meeting, a request was made by the City's apPointed Chairperson, Sue Flores who serves as liaison with the City of Dublin adopted military unit Delta Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 502nd Infantry and the America Supporting Americans Program, for financial assistance to help with flying in members of the City's adopted military unit in order from them to participate in the Tri-Valley "Welcome Home" Parade and Celebration. She requested that this item be placed on a future agenda, and it was the consent of the Council to have this item placed on a future agenda for Council's consideration. BACKGROUND The activities surrounding the upcoming Th-Valley "Welcome Home" Parade and Celebration are moving at a fast pace and the details of this event are being worked on daily basis. One of the proposed center pieces of this event is to have four (4) members of each of the Cities of Dublin, Pleasanton and Livermore adopted military units be present at this event. The request made by the America Supporting Americans Committee Chairperson, Sue Flores is to seek financial assistance in flying four (4) members of the City's adopted military unit- Delta Company of the 2nd Battalion of the 502nd Infantry to participate in the Th-Valley "Welcome Home" Parade and Celebration, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2003. The current estimate for the airfare is $400 per round trip ticket for a total request of $1,600. The funds for food and lodging for these four members will be raised by America Supporting Americans Committee. Recommendation: Consider request.
