Resolution Establishing City Seal Use Policy
RECOMMENDATION:. ~/~ Adopt the Resolution
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION:
At its September 18, 2001 Council Meeting, the City Council granted use of the City Seal to the Women's
Club of Dublin for a 20th anniversary commemorative tapestry throw. From time to time, the City receives
requests from various individUals and/or groups to use the City Seal.
The City Seal is a design used for the purpose of symbolically representing the authority of the City of
Dublin and the capacity of its officers, employees and agents as representatives of the City of Dublin.
When used by individuals or groups outside the organization, the Seal denotes sponsorship, support, or
funding by the City of Dublin. It is important that the Seal be used judiciously to prevent inappropriate use
and to protect the name of the City.
Currently the City has no policy regarding the use of its City Seal. In order to clarify the City's intent with
regards to the use of the Seal, the City Council directed Staff to develop a formal. City Seal Use Policy.
The attached Resolution states that the City Seal is to be used exclusively for City activities unless
expressly authorized by the City Council. The use of the City Seal will be considered on a case-by-case
basis and on such criteria as the City Council deems appropriate.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Council adopt the Resolution establishing a formal City Seal Use Policy.
