AGENDA STATEMENT
CITY COUNCIL MEETING DATE: October 21, 2008
SUBJECT: Designation of a No Parking Zone on Crossridge Road
Report Prepared by: Melissa Morton, Public Works Director.-,.
~~
ATTACHMENTS: 1) Resolution
2) Letter to Resident dated Apri128, 2008
3) Location Diagram
RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution approving the establishment of a no parking
zone on the north side of Crossridge Road west of Squirrel Creek
Circle.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: The cost to paint the curb red will be borne by the City's approved
street maintenance budget.
DESCRIPTION: A resident of this area in Dublin has requested that red curb be
painted on the north side of Crossridge Road west of Squirrel Creek Circle to improve the sight distance
for traffic leaving Squirrel Creek Circle (headed southbound) and turning left onto Crossridge Road. A
field investigation was conducted, and it was observed that there are typically vehicles parked on the north
side of Crossridge Road very close to the corner of Squirrel Creek Circle, which limits sight distance of
oncoming eastbound traveling vehicles. Painting the north side of the street curb red from Squirrel Creek
Circle westerly a distance of 15 feet would improve sight distance.
Written notification of the proposed installation of 15 feet of red curb was sent to the adjacent resident at
7710 Squirrel Creek Circle (Attachment 2). No response was received by the City. In June, staff
inadvertently ordered the curb painted red prior to the Council designating the area a no-parking zone
pursuant to Chapter 6.04 of the Municipal Code. Consequently, until the City Council approves the
resolution designating the no parking zone, enforcement cannot occur.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council approve the resolution to
designate a no parking zone on the north side of Crossridge Road west of Squirrel Creek Circle.
