The proposals sought information from qualified play equipment representatives on play equipment components to replace the existing system. By the March 4th deadline, proposals'were submitted from Ross Recreation, Playgrounds by Design, NorCal Leisure Sales, North State Playgrounds and David O'Keefe Company ranging in price from $56,706.59 to $63,011. Staff subsequently reviewed all five based on the following criteria: 1) Ability to meet functional requirements in terms of variety and age appropriateness of play elements, accessibility, safety considerations and ease of on-going maintenance. 2) Value of play apparatus and site improvements proposed. 3) Extent &manufacturer's "Green Building" program. Upon review, Staff recommended proposals from Ross Recreation, Playgrounds by Design and NorCal Leisure Sales for further consideration at the Parks and Community Services Commission meeting March 17, 2003. The three proposals equally met accessibility requirements, safety considerations, ease of on- going maintenance and manufacturer's "Green Building" program. In order to assist the Parks and Community Services Commission with the decision-making, a table was prepared comparing the amount and variety of proposed play equipment from each vendor. Upon examination of the proposals the Commission recommends the play equipment proposed by NorCal Leisure Sales for City Council approval. Overall, NorCal Leisure Sales provided the greatest assortment and number of play elements in comparison to the other proposals.
