Mock up of Banner Headline Marketing Page RECOMMENDATION: ,~ ~pprove collaborative marketing effort with other Th-Valley Cities. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: AS' part of the City Council's high priority goals for 2003 was to explore a regional approach to performing arts in the Th-Valley. A Th'Valley Regional Performing Arts Committee was formed with council representatives from Danville, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon and Councilmember Tim Sbranti representing the City of Dublin. The first meeting was held in May to discuss the regions performing arts and how each community was meeting the public's needs. At this time it was determined that the cultural needs were being met but that there was an opportunity to collaborate with each other to further market the arts in the region. Further, it was determined that Staff should meet and discuss the logistics of collaborative marketing with one another. Staff from the representative cities have met and determined that the most cost effective and efficient way to market cultural arts programs collaboratively is to have a Cultural Arts page in each cities Activity Guide highlighting the regions cultural and performing arts. A banner headline has been created that would remain consistent in each guide (see attachment). The listing of programs and events would be done in a calendar format. Each city would be responsible for submitting up to five events per guide. The City of San Ramon has volunteered the services of their graphic artist to compile the information for the calendar. At this time, there is sufficient space in the City's Activity Guide to accommodate the additional page so there is no cost to the City to participate in this collaborative marketing effort. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that City Council receive the presentation from Staff and approve the collaborative marketing with other Tri-Valley Cities.
