"MORMON HELPING HANDS 2010 - RENEWING CALIFORNIA PARKS"
WHEREAS, paY1~s are an essential co~nponent to the inclividual health, well-being, happiness ancl quality of life for all human
beings, making our communities more attractive places to live aizd work; ancl
WHEREAS, parks assist us to become more connected with natu~~e ancl our families, cont~ibuting to youth development, social
and cultural exchange, public health, recreation, environmental health and commuizity building; and
WHEREAS, the Ciry of Dublin encouYages and supports effoYts by its citizens, service clubs and faith-based organizations, and
others to pramote volunteerism; and
WHEREAS, ` Nlormon Helping Hands " is a significant international volunteer program sponsored by The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints which provicles conzmunity assistance and disaster relief throughout the world; a~ad
WHEREAS, ` Mormon Helping Hands " has designated May 8, 2010 as a day of community service throughout the State of
CalifoYnia in which over 100, 000 Californians will assist in renewing city, county and state parizs, including citizens of the City of
Dublin and the City of Pleasanton, who will participate in projects at: Emeralcl Glen Parlc, Alamo Creek Park, Shannon PaYk,
Kolb Park and the Dublin Heritage Center.
NO W, THEREFORE BE ITRESOL VED that I, Mayor Tim Sbranti, on behalf of the entire Dublin City Council do hereby
proclaim May 8, 2010 as MoYmon Helping Hands Day in the City of Dublin.
