J?• Z DESCRIPTION: On Monday, December 21, 2009, Dublin Police Services received a letter with a check in the amount of $1,000 from Anthony, Angela, and Lauren Bilich, and their company, Preferred Financial (Attachment 1). The letter expressed the Bilich family wished to provide funds directed towards children and youth programs. Currently the Dublin Police Services, Crime Prevention Unit, offers the "r.a.d. Kids" (r.a.d. is the acronym for resisting aggression defensively) Personal Empowerment Safety Education program to children ages 3 '/2 to 13 years of age. This program emphasizes personal empowerment safety education. The 10 hours of training is designed to empower and teach children to replace the fear, confusion, and panic of dangerous situations with confidence, personal safety skills, and self-esteem. The donation would allow the Crime Prevention Officer to attend the necessary training to become a certified instructor, and to purchase additional equipment required to train the children. The City Council will need to approve the proposed Budget Change (Attachment 2) to accept the funds and appropriate the funds for use in FY 2009-10. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: No public outreach is required regarding this donation. ATTACHMENTS: 1. Letter from Preferred Financial 2.
