DESCRIPTION:
The City of Dublin is working jointly with the East Bay Regional Park District, the City of
Pleasanton, Caltrans and Zone 7 in constructing a trail underneath I-580 that will connect the
Alamo Canal Trail north of the freeway (adjacent to the City of Dublin Library) with the
Pleasanton trail south of the freeway to transform it to a regional trail.
The trail extension would consist of approximately 713 feet of newly paved trail, with a width of
12 feet to accommodate two-way bicycle traffic and maintenance vehicles. The slope of the
trail is being designed to accommodate people with disabilities, in compliance with the
requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
The City joined together with the East Bay Regional Park District and Pleasanton, applied for
and was approved federal and regional funds to construct the project. East Bay Regional Park
District Trails Development Manager Jim Townsend will update the City Council on the status of
the Alamo Canal Trail I-580 Undercrossing Project. The presentation will also include
discussion of newly acquired TIGER II funds for the project and project schedule.
