Acceptance of Donation Grant from the Altamont Cruisers Car Club

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Dublin Police Services’ Crime Prevention Unit was given a donation from the Altamont Cruisers
Car Club. The donation amount of $3,000 will be used for presenting alcohol and drug
awareness programs throughout the City of Dublin. The Dublin City Council will present the
Altamont Cruisers Car Club with a Certificate of Appreciation for their donation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The $3,000 donation will assist Dublin Police Services in the updating of its training and
education, for youth drug and alcohol awareness programs. This donation is not included in the
Fiscal Year 2012-2013 Adopted Budget. The City Council will need to approve a Budget
Change that recognizes the new revenue and expenditure.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the $3,000 donation, approve the Budget
Change and formally recognize the donor.

DESCRIPTION:
On Tuesday, December 11, 2012, Sergeant Dave Snider attended a Grant Presentation
Meeting at which time the Altamont Cruisers Car Club presented Dublin Police Services (DPS)
with a check for $3,000.
The Altamont Cruisers Car Club awarded this grant to assist with DPS’s drug prevention
programs. The funds received will be used to further educate and train the School Resource
Officers and Crime Prevention Staff about current drug trends and teaching techniques. The

funds were made available as a result of a profit the Altamont Cruisers Car Club made from
their annual car show.

REASON FOR BUDGET CHANGE ENTRY:
This budget change will recognize as revenue a donation made to
Altamont Cruisers Car Club, as presented to the City Council on 01/15/2013. In addition to
recognition of the revenue for the donation, the Budget Adjustment appropriates a matching
expenditure for staff training relates to youth drug and alcohol awareness program.
