DESCRIPTION:
Dublin Pride Week Volunteer Day was held on Saturday, April 24, 2010. A number of activities
and projects assisting the schools, seniors and parks projects needed gardening tools and
supplies to be completed. Due to the record number of volunteers for Dublin Pride Week
Volunteer Day this year, the City was in need of extra tools to make sure each volunteer would
have an assignment.
Staff approached, and received assistance from, several businesses in Dublin and the
surrounding area to provide tools for Dublin Pride Week Volunteer Day. One of those
businesses, Lowe's of Dublin, was especially helpful in their donation to the City. Lowe's
provided 50 buckets, 30 rakes and 4 shears for volunteers to use during this Volunteer Day and
many more to come. Per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that gifts and
contributions be formally accepted by the City Council. Staff recommends the City Council
accept these gifts and direct staff to prepare a letter of acknowledgement to Lowe's of Dublin.
