Foss, City Manager SUBJECT: Acceptance of Work – Project No. PK0414, Fallon Sports Park Phase 2 Prepared by: Michael Boitnott, Capital Improvement Program Manager EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider acceptance of Fallon Sports Park Phase 2, CIP No. PK0414. The project provided for two illuminated synthetic turf soccer fields, a 90 -foot illuminated baseball diamond, a restroom and concession building, four lit bocce courts, adventure playground, a group picnic area with trellis, a 145 -stall parking lot, landscaping and irrigation, and street frontage improvements along Central Parkway and Fallon Road. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Adopt the Resolution Accepting Fallon Sports Park Phase 2 (CIP No. PK0414). FINANCIAL IMPACT: Fallon Sports Park Phase 2, Project No. PK0414, has a total budget of $18,083,629, funded by the General Fund, a Community Benefit Payment, Measure D, Public Facility Fees, and Internal Service Fund - Facilities Replacement. The project is now complete, with a total of $17,762,092 spent. The remaining budget of approximately $320,000 will be returned to fund balances after all the final project closeout expenses are cleared. DESCRIPTION: On April 5, 2016, the City Council awarded a contract to Robert A. Bothman Inc., in the amount of $13,858,500.00 for Fallon Sports Park Phase 2, Project No. PK0414. This project consists of two illuminated synthetic turf soccer fields, a 90-foot illuminated baseball diamond, a restroom and concession building, four lit bocce courts, adventure playground, a group picnic area with trellis, a 145 -stall parking lot, landscaping and irrigation, infrastructure to support future installation of two electric vehicle charging stations, and street frontage improvements along Central Parkway and Fallon Road. Nine change orders were issued on the project in the total amount of $982,562.48. The change orders covered encountered unforeseen conditions at the site, clarification of Page 2 of 2 the drawings, replacement of phase 1 soccer field synthetic turf, and additional work requested by the City. Staff has determined that the project is complete and recommends that the City Council accept the project and begin the warranty period for the project. The remaining budget of approximately $320,000 will be returned to fund balances after all the final project closeout expenses are cleared. Resolution Accepting Fallon Sports Park Phase 2 (CIP No. PK0414) RESOLUTION NO. - 18 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN * * * * * * * * * ACCEPTING FALLON SPORTS PARK PHASE 2 (CIP NO. PK0414) WHEREAS, on April 5, 2016, the City of Dublin entered into a contract with Robert A. Bothman, Inc. to perform Project No. PK0414, Fallon Sports Park Phase 2 Improvements; and WHEREAS, said improvements have been completed in accordance with plans and specification, and any approved modifications thereof, to the satisfaction of the City Engineer of the City of Dublin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby accept the improvements, Project No. PK0414, Fallon Sports Park Phase 2 and authorize Staff to file a Notice of Completion with Alameda County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby authorize the City Manager or his designee to release the retention, if after 35 days of filing the Notice of Completion there are no subcontractor claims.
