SUBJECT: Marketing and Branding Update: Revised Logo Options

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will review the two revised logo options prepared to be used for marketing and
branding efforts and will provide feedback and direction to staff.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council review the revised marketing and branding logo options
and provide feedback and direction.

DESCRIPTION:
On September 3, 2013, the Dublin City Council approved an Agreement with North Star
Destination Strategies to develop a branding and marketing plan for the City and also approved
the creation of an Ad-Hoc Marketing and Branding Committee, consisting of Mayor Sbranti and
Councilmember Gupta, to work with City staff and North Star on the development of the
branding effort. Over the last year, North Star, Staff, and the Committee have been working on
the development of the plan.
On October 21, 2014, the City Council received a presentation by North Star which included two
different creative concepts for the plan: "The Bay Area's Emerald Isle" and "The New American
Backyard." City Council selected "The New American Backyard" concept as the final creative
direction for the City's marketing and branding efforts and directed staff to work with North Star
to prepare revised logo options which modify the City's existing shamrock logo.

North Star has prepared two modified shamrock logo options for City Council's review. Upon
receiving final direction from the City Council regarding the logo, Staff will finalize the branding
and marketing plan and will present the final plan to the City Council in early 2015.
