Foss, City Manager SUBJECT: Designation of Two Councilmembers to the Dublin Pride Week Committee Prepared by: Rebecca Parnes, Environmental Technician EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider appointing two of its members to the 2020 Dublin Pride Week Committee. The Dublin Pride Week Committee plans and prepares the annual spring event, which seeks to engage individuals and groups in action-based activities to help improve the community. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Appoint two Councilmembers to the Dublin Pride Week Committee for 2020. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Dublin Pride Week is an annual event that seeks to promote a positive image for the City of Dublin. The primary objective for Dublin Pride Week is to seek ways to engage individuals and groups in action-based activities to help improve the community and the environment. At the forefront of this effort is the Dublin Pride Week Committee, made up of Councilmembers, City staff and various community members and organizations. The Committee will meet monthly from January to May to plan and prepare the event. Councilmember participation is a key component to the Committee and the ultimate success of Dublin Pride Week activities. Dublin Pride Week 2020 will begin the last Saturday in April (April 25) and will continue through the first Saturday in May (May 2). Traditionally, two City Councilmembers have been appointed to serve on the Dublin Pride Week Committee. In 2019, Councilmembers Jean Josey and Shawn Kumagai served as the City Council’s representatives. Staff requests that the City Council select two Councilmembers to the Committee for 2020.
