Staff is recommending that the City Council approve five site locations for City directional signs to direct individuals to the automotive dealers located on Toyota Drive and John Monego Court. FINANCIAL IMPACT: Costs associated with the installation of the signs will be the responsibility of the City. Costs for the production of the directional signs will be paid for by the requesting party (Hamcor, LLC, the parent company for Dublin Toyota). RECOMMENDATION: Approve the City directional sign locations for automotive dealers on Toyota Drive and John Monego Court. ubmitted By evie ed By Assistant to the City Manager Assistant Cit anager Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. e~~ DESCRIPTION: On November 3, 2009, the City Council adopted Resolution 161-09 amending the City's Streetscape Master Plan Policies to allow for City directional signage for places, building or locations of regional or historical significance. At this meeting, the City Council also approved City directional signs for the automotive dealers on Scarlett Drive and Scarlett Court, as a way to achieve a City Council High Priority Goal and Objective to "assist the automobile dealers on Scarlett Court by enhancing their presence." Since that action, the three new City directional signs have been installed. Staff has continued its discussions with the automotive dealers regarding additional City directional signs for dealers located in east Dublin along Toyota Drive and John Monego Court. The signs would be of the same design and quality of the new signs recently placed in the public right of way, as shown in Attachment 1. For City directional signs in east Dublin, Staff is proposing five locations (Attachment 2). These locations address the need to direct traffic from the two interchanges that currently serve this area -Hacienda Drive and Tassajara Road - as well as three sign locations in the east and west bound direction on this stretch of Dublin Boulevard. Staff brought this item to the ad-hoc Economic Development Committee (Mayor Sbranti and Councilmember Biddle) to receive policy direction and guidance on March 22, 2010. The Committee concurs with Staff's recommendation on these proposed locations and requested that the item be brought forward to the City Council for consideration.
