RESOLUTION NO. 129 - 21
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF THREE MARKED POLICE VEHICLES AND ONE
UNMARKED ADMINISTRATIVE VEHICLE FROM THE FORD STORE SAN LEANDRO AND
DECLARING REPLACED VEHICLES AS SURPLUS PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the City requires marked vehicles for Dublin Police Services patrol
operations and unmarked vehicles for administrative staff; and
WHEREAS, the City periodically replaces marked and unmarked police vehicles based
upon the age and condition of the vehicles; and
WHEREAS, the Fiscal Year 2021-22 Internal Service Fund Budget included funding for
the replacement of three marked vehicles and one unmarked vehicle; and
WHEREAS, Dublin Municipal Code Section 2.36.100.A.9 provides an exemption to the
competitive bidding process “when another public agency has administered a
competitive bidding process and has a current valid agreement for the same or substantially
similar consultant or professional services, general services, supp lies or equipment”; and
WHEREAS, on September 23, 2021, Alameda County General Services Agency
approved a contract identifying The Ford Store San Leandro as an approved vehicle purchasing
vendor for Alameda County with an expiration date of September 30, 2024; and
WHEREAS, utilizing the Alameda County General Services Agency contract, Staff has
obtained pricing from The Ford Store San Leandro for one 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid
Administrative Vehicle at a cost of $46,412.37, one 2022 Ford Explorer Hybrid Patrol Vehicle at
a cost of $46,315.35, a 2022 Ford Explorer Interceptor at a cost of $40,842.08, and a 2022 Ford
F150 Police Responder at a cost of $46,185.90 for a total amount of $179,755.70.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin hereby
authorizes the City Manager, as Purchasing Agent, to procure three replacement marked police
vehicles and one unmarked police vehicle from The Ford Store San Leandro as described to the
City Council on November 16, 2021.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that upon placing the new vehicles in service, the replaced
vehicles are declared surplus property to be sold at auction.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager and/or her designee shall be
authorized to arrange for the auction of surplus City property in accordance with state and local
laws and regulations.
