A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
AMENDING THE CLASSIFICATION PLAN
WHEREAS, in accordance with the Personnel System Rules,
the City Council adopted Resolution No. 30-84 and subsequent
amendments which comprise the Classification Plan; and
WHEREAS, during the consideration of the 1986-87 budget,
the City Council projected the need for additional personnel to
provide an adequate level of services to the community; and
WHEREAS, the adoption of a job description is required
for all authorized positions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that'Resolution No. 30-84
and subsequent amendments shall be further amended to include the
following classification and attached job description (Exhibit A).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this document shall become a
part of the official classification plan for the City of Dublin:

EXHIBIT A
CLERK TYPIST/RECEPTIONIST
DEFINITION
This position serves as clerical support within the City's
organization and may be assigned within various departments. The
Clerk Typist/Receptionist will also perform receptionist duties
within the assigned department. The position under direct
supervision performs clerical functions including typing, filing,
photocopying~ telephones and general office work.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Answers and directs telephone calls; provides routine public
information over the telephone and to public visitors; types
routine correspondence and other material; performs some tasks
traditionally found in a mailroom; operates photocopying machine
and other office equipment; completes the copying and collating
of various documents; may operate centralized telephone system;
files documents and reports; and other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
High school graduation or equivalent is required, preferably
supplemented by course work in typing and business office
practices. A minimum of two years full-time experience
performing clerical and/or receptionist duties.
Knowledge and Abilities
The Clerk Typist/Receptionist must have knowledge of modern
office practices and procedures; business English, punctuation,
spelling and arithmetic; alphabetical and numeric filing systems;
and appropriate general telephone skills. The position requires
the ability to type at a corrected rate of 50 words per minute;
operate a cassette transcriber; learn the necessary skills to
operate a word processing system; follow instructions; exercise
courtesy and tact in dealing with the public; and operate a
variety of office machines.
Licenses
Requires a valid California Class III driver's license to be
secured prior to employment and maintained current as a condition
of continued City employment.
