review at least 72 hours prior to a Youth Advisory Committee Meeting or, in the event that it is delivered to
Youth Advisory Committee members less than 72 hours prior to a Youth Advisory Committee Meeting, as soon
as it is so delivered.

2.1. Public Comment
At this time, the public is permitted to address the Youth Advisory Committee on non-agendized items. Please step to the
podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In
accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted ag enda. The
Youth Advisory Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may request Staff to report back at a
future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office related to
the proper procedure to place an item on a future Youth Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions under which the
Youth Advisory Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda are contained in
Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3).
3. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Youth Advisory
Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Youth Advisory Committee who would like an item
removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the item.
3.1. Minutes of the December 5, 2018 Special Youth Advisory Committee Meeting
The Youth Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the
December 5, 2018 Special Meeting.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Approve the minutes of the December 5, 2018 Special Youth Advisory Committee
meeting.

7.1. Youth Advisory Committee Booth at the City’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival
The Committee will be asked to volunteer at the annual Youth Advisory Committee
booth during the City's St. Patrick's Day Festival.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

Volunteer for one shift during the City's St Patrick's Day Festival on Saturday, March
16 and Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, to operate the Youth
Advisory Committee booth.
7.2. Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair
The Youth Advisory Committee will receive a report regarding the March 2, 2019
Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair being held at the City of Dublin Senior Center
from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Assist in promoting the event at their schools and if available, attend the event.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
Brief information only reports from Committee Members and/or Staff, including committee reports and reports
by Committee Members related to meetings attended at City expense (AB1234).

7.1. 2019 Dublin Benefit Concert Subcommittee
Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager, made a presentation.
On motion by Committee Member Sharma, seconded by Committee Member
Lakshman, with Committee Members Furtado, Jain and Vurmi, being absent, and
by unanimous vote, the Committee selected Committee Members Goel,
Phaneedndra and Wong to serve on the subcommittee.
7.2. Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program Applicants Presentation
Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager, made a presentation.
Committee Members reviewed a five-minute presentation from each applicant,
asked questions and rated each applicant. Staff informed presenters that they
were invited to stay for the duration of the meeting to observe the Advisory
Committee’s discussion and decision on grant funding recommendations to the
City Council for approval.
On motion by Committee Member Imran , seconded by Committee Member Bedi,
with Committee Members Furtado, Jain and Vurmi, being absent, and by
unanimous vote, the Committee recommended mini grant funding to: ($300) Teens
United for Education; ($150) Girls Who Code; ($200) Gaels Connect; ($200) Dublin
High School HOSA; ($300) Quarry Lane Environmental Club; ($250) Boy Scouts
of America Troop 905; and ($200) Valley Ch ildren’s Museum Teen Council to the
City Council for approval.

Committee Members provided informational reports on recent events and meetings attended.
9. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 PM.

The Committee will be asked to volunteer at the annual Youth Advisory Committee
booth during the City's St. Patrick's Day Festival.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Volunteer for one shift during the City's St Patrick's Day Festival on Saturday, March 16

Committee booth.

DESCRIPTION:
Each year during the City’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival, the Committee operates a booth
at the Festival. At the booth, Committee Members offer a “spinning wheel” activity and
collect a donation from Festival participants who choose to spin the wheel for various
prizes. All donations will benefit the Youth Fee Assistance Program which offers fee
assistance to qualified persons who could not otherwise participate in recreation
programs.
Volunteer shifts are available both Saturday and Sunday, March 16 and 17, 2019, and
are in increments of three hours each. Shift time slots a re 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 12:00
to 3:00 PM, and 3:00 to 6:00 PM. A minimum of two Committee Members per shift is
requested.

Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Youth Advisory Committee will receive a report regarding the March 2, 2019 Tri -
Valley Teen Job and Career Fair being held at the City of Dublin Senior Center from
1:00 to 4:00 PM.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Assist in promoting the event at their schools and if available, attend the event.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
N/A
DESCRIPTION:
The Tri-Valley Teen Job and Career Fair is an event sponsored by the Dublin/San
Ramon Women’s Club and the cities of Dublin, Livermore, Pleasanton, San Ramon and
Town of Danville. Each year the event is held at a community center and teens are
offered the experience of mock interviews, resume writing, and workshops (such as:
Volunteering into a Job, Managing Finances and Interview Techniques) for teens and
parents. Various local employers attend the event to hire teens for the summer as well
as throughout the year. Last year the event was held on March 3, 2018, at the
Pleasanton Senior Center with approximately 387 in attendance.
This year the event will be held at the Dublin Senior Center on Saturday, March 2, 2019
from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Event flyers will be distributed to Danville, Dublin, Livermore,
Pleasanton, and San Ramon middle schools and high schools in early February. Staff
will email an electronic copy of the flyer to the Committee to assist in promoting the
event.
