HomeMy WebLinkAbout08-04-1988 DUSDADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING - August 4, 1988 An adjourned regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Dublin was held on Thursday, August 4, 1988, in the Board Room of the Dublin Unified School District on Larkdale Avenue. The meeting was a special joint meeting between the City Council and the Directors of the newly formed School District. The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m., by the School Board President Lenora Holmes. ROLL CALL PRESENT: ABSENT' Councilmembers Hegarty, Moffatt, Snyder, Vonheeder and Mayor Jeffery. School Board Trustees Holmes, Howard, Cobb-Adams and Barr. School Board Trustee Biddle. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE President Holmes led those present in the pledge of allegiance to the flag. DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL TASK FORCE REPORT (JOINT USE OF FACILITIES) Recreation Director Diane Lowart summarized the findings and recommendations of the Dublin High School Task Force Report. Discussion included the types of services the School District and the City might provide which would benefit the schools, the City, and the Recreation Department. Recommendation was that the City Staff and School District Staff work together to prioritize the areas of need and the expenses involved. CRONIN PARK School District Staff discussed the park area lying between Cronin and Wells Schools and the current need for improvement. The City Council expressed concern over improving property owned by the School District. Recommendation was that School District Staff develop a plan of options available to the City that would protect a long term investment in this park area. SENIOR CENTER LANDSCAPING School District Staff discussed the need for landscaping the area direCtly in front of the new Senior Center. Recommendation was that City Staff develop a plan for improvement of this area. CM-7-245 Adjourned Regular Meeting August 4, 1988 DUBLIN BOUNDARY EXPANSION Planning ,Director Larry Tong displayed a map of Dublin and surrounding areas and discussed the current City boundaries, Dublin's sphere of influence, and the Dublin School District lines. SCHOOL DISTRICT BOND ISSUE INFORMATION School Superintendent Heinz Gewing discussed the proposed November bond election for three and one-half million dollars and the need of these funds for a new gymnasium at Wells Middle School and capital improvements at Nielsen School and Dublin High School.
