YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
MINUTES OF Wednesday, October 22, 2014
CALL TO ORDER
The October 22, 2014 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 PM, at the
Dublin Senior Center by Chairperson Jessie Sher.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Jessie Sher.
ROLL CALL
Committee Members (CM) Present: Neil Bedi, Nicki Butler, Kush Rastogi, Ivan Fong, Smruthi Balajee,

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS –
Mary Ayers from the Dublin Public Library provided information on an “International Games Day” event
hosted by the Dublin Public Library on November 15, 2014. The event is open to all ages, and
specifically families. SAT math workshops will be offered Mondays from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the
Dublin Public Library beginning November 3, 2014. The workshops are open to high school juniors and
seniors. For more information contact Ms. Ayers at the Dublin Public Library.
MINUTES OF THE REGUALAR MEETING- September 24, 2014
ON A MOTION BY CM BEDI, AND SECONDED BY CM NICKI BUTLER AND BY A VOTE
OF 10-0-1, THE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES
OF SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 AS PRESENTED. CM PATEL ABSTAINED DUE TO BEING
ABSENT AT THE SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 MEETING.

NEW BUSINESS
Dublin Tree Lighting Ceremony
Staff asked Youth Advisory Committee Members if anyone would like to volunteer at the Dublin Tree
Lighting Ceremony on Thursday, December 4, 2014. Twelve Youth Advisory Committee Members stated
that they could volunteer at the event. Staff will create a work schedule and contact each Advisory
Committee Member who volunteered to inform them of their specific volunteer responsibilities.
Fallon Sports Park Public Art Selection Committee
In May 2014 the City Council approved the 2014-2019 Capital Improvement Program (CIP), which
included the public art project for Fallon Sports Park. On September 2, 2014, the City Council approved
that a Public Art Selection Committee for Fallon Sports Park shall be formed. The makeup of the
committee shall include one member appointed from the Youth Advisory Committee. Chairperson Sher
appointed CM Balajee to the Fallon Sports Park Public Art Selection Committee with CM Rastogi
appointed as an alternate.
Review Youth Mini Grant Program Applications
Staff Member Luna submitted five applications received for the Youth Mini Grant Program to the
Advisory Committee to review. Applicants included Dublin High School Room to Read Club, Dublin
High School Speech and Debate Club, Dublin High School Gael Force Robotics Club, Dublin High
School Model United Nations Club, and Dublin High School Dublin Shield. Youth Advisory Committee
Members were provided time to review the applications and provide feedback to all Committee Members
and Staff. Staff Member Luna also explained the rating process and criteria to the Advisory Committee.
After discussing the submitted Youth Mini Grant applications, the Youth Advisory Committee
recommended that all submitted applications be approved to continue in the selection process and attend
the next scheduled Youth Advisory Committee meeting on November 19, 2014 to provide a short
presentation on their specific youth organization/club.
ON A MOTION BY CM NICKI BUTLER, SECONDED BY CM BEDI AND BY UNANIMOUS
VOTE, THE COMMITTEE APPROVED THAT DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL ROOM TO READ
CLUB, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL SPEECH AND DEBATE CLUB, DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL
GAEL FORCE ROBOTIC CLUB, DUBIN HIGH SCHOOL MODEL UNITED NATIONS CLUB,
AND DUBLIN HIGH SCHOOL DUBLIN SHEILD CONTINUE IN THE SELECTION PROCESS
OF THE YOUTH MINI GRANT PROGRAM AND BE INVITED TO ATTEND THE NEXT
SCHEDULED YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE SPECIAL MEETING ON NOVEMBER 19,
2014 TO PROVIDE A SHORT PRESENTATION ON THEIR SPECIFIC YOUTH
ORGANIZATION/CLUB.
OTHER BUSINESS
CM Ianna Fong, a member of the Dublin Crossing Park Master Plan Task Force, provided a brief
overview of the meeting she attended on October 25, 2014. CM Fong stated that many ideas were
generated regarding the planned development of the park. The next meeting for the Dublin Crossing Park
Master Plan Task Force will be in January 2015.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:54 PM by Chairperson Sher.
