HomeMy WebLinkAbout10-26-2016 Approved YAC MinutesYOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE REGULAR MEETING Minutes CITY OF DUBLIN October 26, 2016 The October 26, 2016 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 PM at the Dublin Senior Center by Chair Butler. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the Commission, Staff and those present. ROLL CALL Committee Members (CM) Present: Alini, Batra, Brakeman, Brunckhorst, Butler, Goel, Imran, Mahadeshwar, Mitr, Nuruddin, Shangle, Tran, Wang, Wong Committee Members Absent: Kolan, Zhu Liaison Present: Bedi, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Staff Present: McPherson, Cronin, Dublin Police Officer Blaylock ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 3.1 Public Comments – None. APPROVAL OF MINUTES 4.1 Minutes of the September 28, 2016 Regular Meeting On a motion by CM Shangle, seconded by CM Wang, and by a vote of 13-0-0, with Committee Members Kolan and Zhu absent, the Youth Advisory Committee voted to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 28, 2016, as presented. Advisory Committee Member Alini was not present at the time of the vote. WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS – None. UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None. NEW BUSINESS 7.1 Tree Lighting Ceremony Recreation Supervisor, Lisa McPherson, presented the Staff Report. CM Butler emphasized the importance for Committee Members to volunteer and assist Staff at the event. ACTION The Advisory Committee received the Report. 7.2 Tri-Valley Youth Advisory Committee Roundtable Event Recreation Supervisor, Lisa McPherson, presented the Staff Report. CM Butler emphasized the importance for Committee Members to attend the roundtable event. YAC Minutes – October 26, 2016 – Page 2 of 2 ACTION The Advisory Committee received the Report. 7.3 End of the School Year Event Subcommittee Recreation Supervisor, Lisa McPherson, presented the Staff Report. CM Shangle informed the Youth Advisory Committee that Dublin High School Vice Principal, Mr. Faris, offered the use of Dublin High School at no cost. Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison, Bedi, informed the Youth Advisory Committee that Dublin High School students were interested in the event. Dublin Police Officer Blaylock informed the Youth Advisory Committee that the Dublin Police Department would be interested in assisting with funding for future events. By a vote of 14-0-0, with Committee Members Kolan and Zhu absent, the Youth Advisory Committee took the following action: ACTION Voted to elect Youth Advisory Committee Members Batra, Butler, Shangle, and Wang to serve on the End of the School Year Event Subcommittee. OTHER BUSINESS The Advisory Committee Members provided brief reports on upcoming events. ADJOURNMENT Being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:18 PM.
