2.1. Public Comment
At this time, the public is permitted to address the Youth Advisory Committee on non-agendized items. Please step to the
podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In
accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted ag enda. The
Youth Advisory Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may request Staff to report back at a
future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office related to
the proper procedure to place an item on a future Youth Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions under which the
Youth Advisory Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda are contained in
Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3).
3. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Youth Advisory
Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Youth Advisory Committee who would like an item
removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the item.
3.1. Minutes of the November 14, 2018 Special Youth Advisory Committee Meeting
The Youth Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the
November 14, 2018 Special meeting.

7.1. 2019 Dublin Benefit Concert Subcommittee
The Committee will appoint three Advisory Committee Members to serve on a
subcommittee to plan the 2019 Dublin Benefit Concert.

7.2. Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program Applicants Presentation
The Youth Advisory Committee will receive presentations from qualified Youth
Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program applicants. After the last presentation, the
Youth Advisory Committee will deliberate and consider the amount of grant funding
to be recommend for City Council approval.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Receive applicant presentations, deliberate, and recommend amount of grant funding
for City Council approval.
8. OTHER BUSINESS
Brief information only reports from the Committee and/or Staff, including committee reports and reports by the
Committee related to meetings attended at City expense (AB1234).

7.1. Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Program Applications Review and Selection
Lisa McPherson, Recreation Manager, presented the Mini Grant applications
received.
On motion by Committee Member Imran, seconded by Committee Member Carey,
with Committee Members Phaneedndra and Vurmi being absent, and by
unanimous vote, the Committee recommended to disqualify the Mini Grant
Submittals from Gael Force Build Club; Dublin High School Science Olympiad;
Wells Middle School Leadership; Fallon Middle School Student Council; P.A.T.C.H
Club; Junior Coach Golf; and Mango Foundation for either not completing an
application or supplement questions.
On motion by Committee Member Imran, seconded by Committee Member Goel,
with Committee Members Phaneedndra and Vurmi being absent, and by
unanimous vote, the Committee recommended the Mini Grant Submittals from
Teens United for Education; Girls Who Code; Gaels Connect; Dublin High School
HOSA; Quarry Lane Environmental Club; Boy Scouts of America Troop 905; and
Valley Children’s Museum to attend the December 5, 2018 Special Meeting to
present their Mini Grant submittal.

Committee Members provided informational reports on recent events and meetings attended.
9. Adjournment

2019 Dublin Benefit Concert Subcommittee

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Committee will appoint three Advisory Committee Members to serve on a
subcommittee to plan the 2019 Dublin Benefit Concert.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Appoint three Advisory Committee Members to serve on the Dublin Benefit Conc ert
Subcommittee.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
N/A
DESCRIPTION:
The Dublin Benefit Concert has become an annual event since 2014. The concert
showcases the talents of both local youth and seniors to promote an intergenerational
event. Donations will be accepte d at the concert to assist in raising funds for the City of
Dublin Senior Fee Assistance Program, which provides fee assistance to qualified
seniors who could not otherwise participate in City of Dublin recreation programs.
At the October 24, 2018 Regular Meeting the Committee established the concert
Timeline and Work Plan, though did not appoint three Committee Members to serve on
the subcommittee.
The duties of the Dublin Benefit Concert Subcommittee will consist of:
o Completing timeline duties
o Attending regularly scheduled meetings
o Promoting the concert
o Screening and selecting performers
o Assisting Staff at the concert

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Youth Advisory Committee will receive presentations from qualified Youth Advisory
Committee Mini Grant Program applicants. After the last presentation, the Youth
Advisory Committee will deliberate and consider the amount of grant funding to be
recommend for City Council approval.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:

FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant program has a total of $1,600 budgeted in
Fiscal Year 2018-2019.
DESCRIPTION:
At the Youth Advisory Committee Special Meeting on November 14, 2018, Advisory
Committee Members reviewed and rated each submitted Youth Advisory Committee
Mini Grant application. After reviewing each application, the Advisory Committee
selected qualified organizations/clubs to attend and provide a presentation in support of
their funding requests at the December 5, 2018, Youth Advisory Committee Special
Meeting.
The following organizations/clubs were invited to attend and provide a presentation at
the Advisory Committee’s December 5, 2018, Special Meeting:
• Boys Scouts of America Troop 905
• Dublin High School Teens Unite For Education
• Dublin High School Girls Who Code
• Dublin High School Gaels Connect
• Dublin High School HOSA

• Quarry Lane’s Environmental Club
• Valley Children’s Museum
Presenters will be asked to sign-in with Staff and present in the order in which they
arrive to the meeting. After the last presentation, the Advisory Committee will deliberate
and discuss the amount of grant funding to recommend for Council approval. Staff will
inform presenters that they are welcome to stay for the duration of the meeting and
observe the Committee’s discussion and recommendation on grant funding.
Staff will present a Staff Report at the December 18, 2018 City Council Meeting
regarding the recommended grant funding for Council approval. After Council approval,
awarded grant applicants will be notified by phone and email before December 21,
2018. Awarded organizations/clubs will be required to repo rt to Staff no later than May
17, 2019, with an email on how the funding from the Youth Mini Grant was used, if the
goals were met, and the impact on the program.
