A telephonic option will also be available. • Once connected, the public speaker will be placed in an on-line waiting room. While in the waiting room, the public speaker will hear the meeting while they are connected and waiting to speak. • When the agenda item upon which the individual would like to comment is addressed, the speaker will be announced in the meeting when it is his/her time to speak to the committee. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 2.1 Public Comment At this time, the public is permitted to address the Committee on non-agendized items. Please step to the podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. The Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked or may request Staff to report back at a future meeting concerning the matter. 3. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Youth Advisory Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Youth Advisory Committee who would like an item removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the item. 3.1 Approval of the March 24, 2021 Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Minutes The Youth Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the March 24, 2021 Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approve the minutes of the March 24, 2021 Youth Advisory Committee Regular Meeting. UNFINISHED BUSINESS 4.1 2020-21 Youth Advisory Committee Mini Grant Recipient Presentations The Youth Advisory Committee will hear presentations from Mini Grant recipients on how funds were used during Fiscal Year 2020-21 and the number of youths the funds impacted. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentations. Staff Report 5. NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Annual Presentation by Youth Advisory Committee The Committee will receive a presentation from Chair Saanya Goel and Vice-Chair Aleena Imran on the Youth Advisory Committee’s activities and accomplishments during the 2020-21 term, in preparation for their final presentation at the Regular Meeting of the Dublin City Council on Tuesday, May 18, 2021. Other Business Chair Goel called upon members of the Youth and Senior Advisory Subcommittee for the April 11 Dublin Benefit Concert to provide an update to the Committee. Bridget Amaya, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services, spoke to the Committee about upcoming volunteer opportunities and recruitment for the 2021-22 Youth Advisory Committee Member Khaware arrived at 7:35 PM The Committee held a moment of silence for Dublin Unified School District Trustee Catherine Kuo. 7. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentations. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The City of Dublin Youth Mini Grant Program is supported by the General Fund in the amount of $2,500 for Fiscal Year 2020-21. DESCRIPTION: The Youth Advisory Committee established the Mini Grant Program in Fiscal Year 2012-13 to support youth organizations that offer programs for middle and high school students other than those offered by the Parks and Community Services Department. Each year, Dublin-based youth organizations and clubs have an opportunity to apply for grant funding to assist them in offering activities to the community including performing arts, sports, multicultural awareness, health awareness, or other activities that support projects or programs benefiting Dublin youth. Funding is recommended annually by the Committee and awarded by the City Council to organizations and clubs that best meet the needs of Dublin youth. On December 9, 2020, Committee members heard presentations from the following groups: 1. Dublin High School Seniors 2. Dublin High School Patch Club 3. Quarry Lane Economic and Financial Literacy Club 4. Dublin HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) 8 Page 2 of 2 5. Gardner’s of the Galaxy 6. Quarry Lane Environmental Club After the presentations, the Committee members made funding recommendations which were presented to the Parks and Community Services Commission at the December 21, 2020 meeting and the Dublin City Council on January 12, 2021. The City Council approved the funding recommendations as presented. As projects near completion, grant recipients will provide the Committee with a brief three-to- five-minute report on how the funds were used and the number of youths the funds impacted. STRATEGIC PLAN INITIATIVE: None. NOTICING REQUIREMENTS/PUBLIC OUTREACH: A copy of this Staff Report was sent to the recipients.
