First, in 2014, the City Council adopted an Open Space Initiative establishing City limit boundaries on the western and eastern edges of the community. The Initiative requires the City to study annexing a 180-acre County property between Dublin and Livermore for the completion of the Dublin Boulevard extension by 2024. Second, Dublin has sufficient funding to build a portion of this extension up to Dublin's city boundary but is short approximately $50 million to complete the extension and connect the two cities. Annexing this property and having it become a business and industrial park —without any residential units —would create new property tax revenue to pay for the extension and bring local jobs to the area. In your opinion, what is the most important thing the City of Dublin can do to improve City services for the people who live and/or work here? 64 Conclusions ✓ Residents continue to have broadly positive views of Dublin: they feel it's a great place to live and raise a family, that it is safe and on the right track, and give good ratings on job performance. ✓ Residents also see the city as diverse, welcoming, and "up and coming" — majorities say it is not affordable. ✓ There are a few key issues that remain concerning — though much less so than in other Bay Area cities — including the cost of living (housing particularly) and traffic. ✓ They especially value police and fire protection, pedestrian safety, youth sports and recreation, and traffic flow. Traffic flow, in particular though, is an area for improvement. ✓ Library users and parents especially value using underused library space for children's and teen's activities. ✓ Most support extending Dublin Blvd., though additional context doesn't add to support. ✓ Growth and development remains a complex issue. Most residents feel it is a net positive — but a majority also believes "too much growth and development" is a serious problem for the city. At the same time, a majority rejects the idea that Dublin is "losing its character." ✓ While three in five see at least some need for additional funding, that perception is fairly muted.
