DESCRIPTION:
At its meeting of April 10, 1989, the City Council authorized Staff to
advertise for bids for Contract 89-11 Facilities Identification Signs.
This project is proposed to install signs at three former DSRSD facilities:
Dublin Sports Grounds, Dublin Community Swim Center, and Mape Park. The
existing signs were removed at the time that the City assumed responsibility
for these facilities because the sponsor wording needed to be changed.
Three different types of signs are to be installed. The Mape Park sign is
of wood; the Swim Center sign is faced with brick, and the Dublin Sports
Grounds sign is cast concrete. All three signs include landscaping.
The City received a total of 2 bids (see attached bid summary) for this
project. The low bidder was Devengenzo Landscaping with a bid of
$59,642.84, which is considerably higher than the engineer's estimate and
the funds budgeted.
Staff recommends that the City Council reject the bids and direct Staff to
review the plans and specifications for out-of-the-ordinary costs, revise
the plans if necessary, and authorize rebidding of the project.
