CALL TO ORDER AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 2. ORAL COMMUNICATIONS 2.1 Public Comment At this time, the public is permitted to address the Senior Center Advisory Committee on non-agendized items. Please step to the podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not appearing on the posted agenda. The Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked or may request Staff to report back at future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office related to the proper procedure to place an item on a future Senior Center Advisory Committee agenda. The exception under which the Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda are contained in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3). 3. CONSENT CALENDAR Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Senior Center Advisory Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Senior Center Advisory Committee who would like an item removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the item. 1 May 04, 2023 Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee Agenda 2 3.1 Approval of the February 2, 2023, Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting Minutes The Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the February 2, 2023, Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting. On a motion by Loc Valencia, and seconded by Shweta Bhatnagar, the committee approved Christy Li as Chair and Kebin Lu Vice Chair of the 2023 Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee. Rather than select a person to act as the liaison for the calendar year, the Committee preferred to assign someone on a case-by-case basis based on availability and information to be reported. 5.3 Review of Bylaws and Rules of Procedure The Advisory Committee reviewed the Senior Center Advisory Committee Bylaws and Rules of Procedure. 6. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Senior Support Program of the Tri-Valley (SSPTV) merged with CityServe in 2022 and is now called CityServe of the Tri-Valley. CityServe cares for people in crisis, coordinating resources and volunteers between local organizations and connecting them to community needs. CityServe senior programs provide services for older adults that foster independence, promote safety and well-being, preserve dignity, create community, and improve their quality of life. CityServe Senior Services provides caregiver support, care coordination, senior counseling, vast transportation, finding wellness, provides care advocacy, medication safety, fall prevention training, and coordinates caring visitors for seniors. A representative from CityServe will be present to provide specifics on programs and services offered at the Dublin Senior Center and in the community. ATTACHMENTS: None. 14 STAFF REPORT Senior Center Advisory Committee Page 1 of 2 Agenda Item 5.2 DATE:May 4, 2023 TO:Honorable Chair and Committee Members FROM:Jackie Dwyer, Parks & Community Services Director SUBJECT:Presentation on Programs and Services from Open Heart Kitchen Prepared by: Henry Siu, Recreation Coordinator EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Committee will receive a presentation on programs and services from Open Heart Kitchen. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. DESCRIPTION: Open Heart Kitchen is the largest meal provider in Eastern Alameda County, providing meals for community members across multiple locations in Pleasanton, Livermore, and Dublin. There is no qualifying process, and meals may be eaten at numerous serving sites or taken to go. Guests come from all walks of life, and Open Heart Kitchen has become a safety net for those in need. Last year, Open Heart Kitchen served more than two million meals. The Senior Meal Program at the Dublin Senior Center, provided by Open Heart Kitchen, addresses the nutritional gap of those over 60. Open Heart Kitchen prepares fresh and nutritious multi- course meals tailored to the dietary needs of seniors Monday-Friday. While donations are appreciated, meals are free of charge and are never dependent on a customer’s ability to pay. ATTACHMENTS: None. 16 STAFF REPORT Senior Center Advisory Committee Page 1 of 2 Agenda Item 5.3 DATE:May 4, 2023 TO:Honorable Chair and Committee Members FROM:Jackie Dwyer, Parks and Community Services Director SUBJECT:Presentation on the Dublin Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation Lunch Prepared by: Henry Siu, Recreation Coordinator EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Senior Center Advisory Committee will receive a presentation on the Dublin Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Receive the presentation. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The annual operating budget includes the Dublin Senior Center Volunteer Appreciation Lunch. DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Senior Center operates with the support of over 55 volunteers, assisting with front desk operations and serving as class instructors and special event volunteers. The annual lunch is hosted to recognize and show appreciation to dedicated volunteers and their commitment to the Dublin Senior Center. This year, the Volunteer Appreciation Lunch was held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM in the Alamilla Springs Ballroom at the Dublin Senior Center. The luncheon featured a fully catered lunch by On the Vine Catering that included pan-seared king salmon, chicken piccata, fingerling potatoes, and spring medley salad. The City of Dublin Executive Team and City Council served volunteers. Volunteers also received a City branded long sleeve shirt as an appreciation gift.
