OVERVIEW OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE STRATEGIC PLAN
CITY OF DUBLIN SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 2, 2010
McCreary provided an overview of achievements of the Strategic Plan.
CM Baron thanked the Advisory Committee Members for their contributions to the goals and objectives.
Hudson asked if the Advisory Committee Members wanted to include an intergenerational event as a
strategy. Guarienti suggested that it would fit into Strategy 4; Make older adults feel valued in the
community.
CM Mack asked if the Senior Center outreach included churches. Guarienti felt that this would fit into
Strategy 2; Serve as Ambassadors and expand outreach to older adults in the community. Hudson shared,
as part of her work goals, she will be conducting three community outreach presentations. She announced
that she is scheduled to attend The Wells Community Church Health Fair in September.
CM Baron said the strategies deserve reflection and examination. He proposes the strategies be fully
reviewed by the Advisory Committee. McCreary suggested a public meeting in November for input. Then
in January the Advisory Committee could examine, introduce and define new strategies. At that time the
Advisory Committee could potentially have new members.
The Advisory Committee discussed how to get patrons to attend the November meeting to maximize
public input. Suggestions included surveying the groups like the bingo group, training greeters to
personally invite individuals, and passing out questionnaires in October.
Guarienti suggested the current Advisory Committee make recommendations to the next Advisory
Committee as well as provide input to the community.
The following three points were recommended by the Advisory Committee:
1) Staff will create a questionnaire in October
2) Staff will conduct a community input meeting for November
3) Committee Members will review input and revisit existing strategies, and determine the strategies for
the next two years at the January Advisory Committee meeting.
PARKS AND COMMUNITY SERVICES DRAFT PRICING POLICY
McCreary provided the Advisory Committee with a presentation of the proposed Pricing Policy as
outlined in the Staff report
CM Baron commented the presentation was good, and the priorities were clear.
Guarienti stated the key to pricing is flexibility. The pricing policy provides a strategy on how to price
and how to implement it. He liked the concept of discounts.
In the near future, Staff will make a presentation to the Advisory Committee about how Staff recommends
to prioritize the subsidy levels for services at the Senior Center.
OTHER BUSINESS
CM Bonetti noted that Foundation Bingo is doing very well.
