SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 6, 2012
Call to Order
Chairperson Mack called the meeting to order at 9:30 AM.
Roll Call:
Committee Members (CM) Present: Diane Bonetti, Faye Guarienti, Eddie Jo Mack, Lee Sandeman
Committee Members Absent: Diana Threlkeld
Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Present: Connie Mack
Staff Present: Micki Cronin, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services; Diane Guenther,
Office Assistant, Camille Centeno, Recreation Technician, Melanie Triantos, Senior Recreation Leader

Approval of the Minutes
CM GUARIENTI MADE A MOTION TO APPROVE THE AUGUST 2, 2012 MINUTES. THE
MOTION WAS SECONDED BY CM SANDEMAN. THE SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY
COMMITTEE UNANIMOUSLY APPROVED THE MINUTES OF THE AUGUST MEETING BY A
VOTE OF 4-0-0.

Unfinished Business
SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE STRATEGIC GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
Each of the Senior Center Advisory Subcommittees provided an update on their perspective Strategic
Goals and Objectives.
Strategic Goal #1 – Reach out to senior groups and social networks in the community.
CM Mack read an introduction letter. The goal of the Subcommittee is to have an initial mailing to ten
congregations in the area.
Ms. Centeno previewed the draft Power Point presentation for the Advisory Committee. There is no voice
over at this time, but Staff will research this possibility. It was suggested possibly using a companion CD
with the presentation.
CM Mack commented she felt the presentation is an excellent tool to use during an outreach. The
Advisory Committee liked the presentation showcasing the activities offered at the Dublin Senior Center.
Strategic Goal #2 – Assist Staff with planning and implementing new special events to attract new
customers to the Senior Center.

CM Guarienti stated Saturday, May 18th, 2013 has been set aside for a vintage fashion show. She noted
Ms. Hudson contacted a designer who formerly worked for McCall’s to see if she is available to host a
fashion show at the Dublin Senior Center. At this time Ms. Hudson has not had a response to her inquiry.
It has been suggested that light refreshments be served versus a full lunch. Once Ms. Hudson receives
confirmation from the McCall’s contact, CM Guarienti will return to the Senior Center Advisory
Committee with more details.
Strategic Goal #3 – Educate residents about Dublin and resources available for older adults.
CM Sandeman shared the Welcome Packet and stated that the packet is almost completed. She noted that
there are so many sources of information that a checklist that will be available for the Greeter to use as a
reference as well as a place to obtain name, address, phone number and interests of visitors for follow up.
New Business
APPOINTMENTS TO 2013 DUBLIN CAR SHOW SUBCOMMITTEE
Staff asked the Senior Center Advisory Committee Members to consider appointing two committee
members to the 2012 Dublin Car Show Subcommittee. Both CM Bonetti and CM Guarienti stated they
would like to serve again in 2013.
CM Sandeman made the motion that CM’s Bonetti and CM Guarienti be on the 2013 Dublin Car Show
Subcommittee, the motion was seconded by CM Mack and the Advisory Committee unanimously approved
the motion.
Ms. Cronin shared the process for the upcoming 2013 Dublin Car Show and stated that the Dublin Car
Show Committee Meeting will be schedule by the end of the month.
Other Business
Staff reported on the stated success of the Dublin Senior Foundation’s fireworks booths and their
upcoming events. The Foundation Pasta Feed is on Friday, September 14th and is sold out. The Holiday
Craft Boutique is also coming up on Saturday, Nov 17th and the vendor tables are also sold out.
Staff reminded the Senior Center Advisory Committee Members that the new City Special Event -
Splatter - is coming up on Saturday, September 22nd and shared the different components of the event.
CM Guarienti asked about the activity fee increase and the process for increases . Staff reviewed the
budget process and indicated that an earlier effort will be made to share the information to the Senior
Center Advisory Committee in the future.
CM Guarienti commented she had discussions with Tri Valley Trail Trekkers about the use of either
tickets or passports in lieu of carrying cash. Ms. Cronin stated Staff will look at the possibilities of
creating a passport or tickets for Trail Trekkers.
